The Street & Clubstyles Lab was a residency programme spanning several months, organised by Tanzplattform Rhein-Main for five professional dancers and choreographers from the street and club styles scene. With support from French choreographer Saïdo Lehlouh, the participants explored their choreographic practices, artistic questions and the conditions of professional dance production.
Sām Sabor developed and curated the format as part of his work for Tanzplattform Rhein-Main, a partnership between Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm and Hessisches Staatsballett. Across five weekends between March and June 2025, the Lab combined artistic research and collective exchange with insights into production processes and institutional working structures. It centred on the question of how distinct choreographic approaches rooted in street and club styles could be developed further and brought into dialogue with the independent and institutional dance sectors.
The programme concluded with a public showing at Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm on 7 June 2025, where the participants shared insights into their developing concepts.
